3rd National conference on Recent Advances in Chemical and environmental science

3rd National conference
Recent Advances in Chemical and environmental science:
Emphasis on occupational health

Dear Colleague,

Please accept this warm invitation to participate in the 3rd National conference on Recent Advances in Chemical and environmental science: Emphasis on occupational health. As you know industrial revolution as well as globalization is increasing the burden of occupational hazards and changing occupational morbidity drastically. Still occupational health is seen as a secondary issue while formulating health policy and health-related programmes. However, last decade has witnessed a surge in curiosity and awareness in India about the concerns for Occupational, Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS). Some efforts have been initiated to improve the environment and working conditions of workers, still there is a huge gap in demand and supply of the OEHS services for millions of vulnerable workers including women, children and elderly. The glittering projection of India as the future epitome of world economy needs to be equated with the improvement of the worker’s health and their working conditions. India needs to build up over whatever little we have achieved and it needs multidisciplinary approach and capacity building amongst all the stakeholders.

Objectives of the Conference:

Evaluate work practices and engineering control techniques for the prevention of occupational disease
• Recognize health hazards in occupational settings
.  Select control measures specific to exposures
• Discuss the physiological and toxicological effects of exposures to industrial hazards
• Understand the physical and chemical behavior of aerosols and gas mixtures
• Analyze industrial exhaust ventilation systems
• Identify methods to measure and control noise stress in the workplace
• Identification of health risk factors in small scale industries
• Learn about the effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation
• Detect the sources of ergonomic stress in the factory and office
• The effects of integrated health protection and health promotion interventions, including both health/safety

With this aim 3rd National conference on Recent Advances in Chemical and environmental science: Emphasis on occupational health is being organized by the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science, School of Physical Science, ITM University, Gwalior (M.P.) during 25-26 September, 2014.
